The island of St. Maarten - St. Martin is home to more than one hundred rental car companies - an ultra-competitive business environment for this industry.
That's why it is so remarkable that one independent rental car provider wins year after year the coveted World Travel Award as the island's leading agency.
Leisure Car Rental has snatched the award for the Leading Car Rental Company 2021, 2022, and 2023 - not only for Dutch Sint Maarten but also for French Saint Martin.
"We might be a small organization," explains company owner Jimmy Fitzpatrick, "but we have proven to beat the big guys regarding service and our customer-friendly approach. I'm proud. The awards we have won confirm that we are on the right track."
Do travelers book with Leisure Car Rental because of extremely low rates? "They don't." Jimmy shakes his head. "We charge enough to maintain our cars in tip-top shape, clean, even sanitized, and road-worthy. Our clients appreciate this."
For the recent World Travel Award, Leisure Car Rental is in prominent company: the elegant Holland House Beach Hotel in Philipsburg won the honors as 'Leading Hotel'. The Sonesta Ocean Point can now claim to be St. Maarten's 'Leading Resort'.
